Micol Spitale
Micol Spitale is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano (Polimi).
In recent years, her research has been focused on the field of Social Robotics, Human-Robot Interaction, Social Signal Processing and Affective Computing, exploring ways to develop robots that are socio-emotionally adaptive to have a positive impact on people's lives.
Previously, she was a PostDoctoral Researcher at the Affective Intelligence & Robotics Laboratory (AFAR Lab) of the University of Cambridge. In October 2021, she successfully achieved her Ph.D. (in Information Technology, Computer Science and Engineering Area) from Politecnico di Milano, with "cum laude" honours. During her Ph.D., she also spent several months as a visiting Ph.D. student at the University of Southern California (USC) in the Interaction Lab.
She is a member of the ELLIS Society.
